Commonwealth Shared Scholarships Scheme

Closing date 1 April 2010

The Shared Scholarship Scheme is a joint initiative between the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and UK universities, to support students from developing Commonwealth countries who would not otherwise be able to study a Masters programme in the United Kingdom. For details please visit the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme website.

For 2010 the University has been allocated two awards. Within our School the following programmes are eligible for this scheme:

•  Masters in Public Administration
•  LLM in International Human Rights Law

Eligibility

Candidates are normally expected to hold a first degree at either first class or upper second-class level and must meet the University English Language requirements.
Candidates who have already studied for one year or more in a developed country or who possess sufficient resources to self-fund, are not eligible for an award.

How to apply

Applications should be made via the on-line University application for the relevant programme. Please clearly state on your application form that you wish to be considered for this scheme. You should also send an email to Liz Hull with the following statement:

I wish to be considered for the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme and confirm that:

ii) I have not undertaken studies lasting one year or more in a developed country
iii) I am not at present employed by a national Government department or parastatal organisation
iv) Neither I nor my family are able to pay to study in the United Kingdom.
