Exeter researcher at the forefront of new diplomatic initiatives on Iran7th May 2009 The shift in diplomatic thinking by the Obama administration regarding the re-entry of Iran into the international community has thrust the work of Exeter researchers into the centre of world policy debates. Michael Axworthy's book on Iran: Empire of the Mind: A History from Zoroaster to the Present Day, is contributing significantly to this new thinking. This week's FT featured essay included Michael's Empire of the Mind as one of three recent works on Iran that are opening up space for the diplomatic rapprochement being considered by Washington. The review describes the book as 'a beautifully distilled retelling of Iranian history'.
